Keiko Gyokuro Kiwami (organic)
The tea plants for these treasures grow in Kagoshima at an altitude of over 1000 meters in the fields of long-time contract farmers. During the shade season, the plants are tended with special care to prevent damage from disease or pests - not an easy task when you are an organic farmer and do not use pesticides or chemical insecticides - because the stronger the shade, the more susceptible the plants become. But the effort is worth it!
Enjoy a harmonious aroma with the fine sweetness typical of Gyokuro, paired with a refreshing fruity spiciness and a long, full-bodied finish. This premium Gyokuro is grown in the highlands of Kagoshima and the tea bushes are harvested only once a year. In two stages, the tea plants are shaded and moderately steamed (chumushi) for a total of 3 weeks. The infusion of the small, dark green, needle-shaped leaves, especially in the second infusion, presents an unusually intense green for Gyokuro and a fresh, invigorating fragrance in the cup.
