Kukicha

Kukicha (Japanese 茶 茶 kuki, english "Stalk") is a Japanese green tea variety consisting mainly of the stems and leaf ribs of the tea plant. This makes Kukicha less caffeine than other green teas and is also recommended for evening enjoyment. In the quality it corresponds to a good Sencha.
If stems are used which were selected during the production process of Gyokuro or high-quality Sencha, Kukicha is also referred to as Karigane (ヶ 音 音) or Shiraore (折 折) to emphasize its particularly good taste.
As with most green tea varieties, the type of preparation depends on the personal taste and the quality of the tea. Depending on the quality Kukicha can be poured three to five times. You will find an exact preparation recommendation for each tea in the product description.
